Welcome!

Out and About with Lori

Out and About with Lori…Well, I finally did it! I have been thinking about and talking about starting a travel blog for quite a while. This year, several friends and family members have asked about some of the places we’ve gone and the things we’ve seen, so I thought maybe I do have some fun stuff I can share with you all!

Traveling has been in my blood since I was very young. Growing up, we spent a lot of time camping at State Parks in Indiana, tubing down the Wildcat Creek, playing on the beach in Michigan, and visiting theme parks in Florida. In High School and College, I convinced several friends to take “Road Trips” to explore new places. But the real adventures started way back in 1991 when Dave and I got married. We didn’t have much money, but we still wanted to get out and about and see some of this great country of ours!

After Justin, our oldest son, was born, Dave worked really hard so I could be a stay at home mom. Our first Family Vacation was a trip to Disney World, we loaded up our Honda Accord with a cooler and a picnic basket and hit the road! We booked a super cheap hotel from one of those ads you find in the rest areas and had a blast. This was the beginning of many more family trips for us. As our family grew (Conner and Evan made us a family of 5 by the summer of 1997), so did our desire to keep seeing new places.

We have taken full advantage of every opportunity to get out and see as much of this world as we could over the years. Whether it was tagging along with Dave while he worked, taking a side trip as we traveled to soccer games and college visits, going on a fantastic family trip, or returning each year to “our” beach, I always have a plan to fit in as much as we can. Sometimes we drive, sometimes we fly. Sometimes we cruise, and lately, sometimes we RV!

Through this blog, I am hoping to share much information about our past and future trips. I am excited to start this new journey and hope you all can find as much enjoyment as we have by getting out and about and seeing it all!
